The current acting Legatus of the XVIIth, Stephano van Samwell, is a man of mixed blood; both Ishgardian and Garlean. Although born in Ishgard and raised to fight as a Dragoon in the Dragonsong War. He had found his way to Garlemald and swore to serve with his life to the Garlean people. A veteran of many decades of conquest and warring wherever the Garlean warmachine took him, from the shores of Southern Ilsabard to the far reaches of Doma and even to the mountains of Gyr Abania.

Borne of Garlemald, before the days of the Empire. His family lineage dates back to when his ancestors were still farmers in Southern Ilsabard. A master of the medical and scientific field, specializing in biological magitek application and augmentation.
